About These Pages
The focus of these few pages
on Old Testament studies is the history of Israel, especially during the time before the monarchy, as per
my research interests.
Some emphasis is also placed on archaeology and ancient Near Eastern
studies, in particular as they relate to Old Testament studies and to the history of
Israel. I hope that at least some of the material uploaded here can be of assistance.
One of my current convictions is that we should use historical methods for the
academic study of the OT/HB, but I am of the opinion that the Wellhausenian synthesis
on which much of Old Testament scholarship still relies
is not best suited for accounting for the available evidence and am in favour of
trying to find alternative models to account for the data. Much of the material on
these pages reflects this.
To promote the study of the Old Testament/Hebrew Bible, I have also uploaded
copies of audio files that contain the OT/HB read in modern Hebrew pronunciation.
